Non B Visa "expired" And Want Apply Wp

Featured Replies

Me again.

Brit, 33 Years old.

Hold a non multiple entry B visa. Expired in Sept 2009 (visa page in PP). Have stamp in Passport dated 25 NOV 2009.

Wish to apply for work permit.

My question is, can I apply for a work permit on this basis (my employer, established company will apply for me)? Or, will I need to go and get another 3 month B visa from a bordering country, return and apply for work permit? As visa page in passport expired sept, not sure if it is still valid for WP application or not.

Roughly how long will it take to process work permit any clues as the clock is ticking!?

Once I have work permit I will go get another 1 year visa from Malaysia as I managed to do this in 2008.

Thanks again guys you are awesome!

if you have a valid permission to stay on your non-B, than you can apply for a WP. You can now stay till 25 Nov. That the visa is expired is of no consequence.

How long it will take depend on the office and the job. But it will in all likelyhood be before your permission to stay ends.

You do not even need the visa to apply for a work permit - just to obtain it. Time seems to range from a few days to weeks. A multi entry visa may not be as simple as last time unless the company is well funded and established. Believe Penang requires 8 million baht company now.
