New Computer Virus

Featured Replies

Got a mail the other day with a warning that seems to have been on CNN and Dutch television already.

It's about a new virus send through email. In the attachment there is "Postcard from Hallmark". When you open this attachment (because the mail seems to be from a dear family member or friend) it can kill your complete C-drive.

According to CNN and Microsoft this is the most damaging virus ever and they don't have ways to fix it yet.

Anyone has heard of this virus?

As mentioned, a hoax. Moving to Computer forum as it is not CM specific.

Okay, thanks! :D

What made me a little suspicious was that it said to be 'the most destructive virus ever'.

It sounds to me a bit like: RENEWED!!! The most 'balanced and complete' pet food (for those who know where I come from :))

Do yourself a huge favor- Never open a hallmark card. This joke of a virus has been circulating & has been resurrected many times since 2000. Never open any mail if you do not know the sender. If they send you a program & do not let you know they what they are sending delete it. & never add Amy Lucy Jasmine Tom or whoever to your list as they prey on the fact in a previous life you knew someone with that name.

If you suspect you got a problem. (hopefully you have a backup disc(or discs)) Write your drive down to zeros & re-do the drives. A back up system will revert your drive to when you created it. Hopefully after you did a full reformat. Been a lot of years since I got zapped. I won't even open forwarded mail.
