Just picked up details of the new but not unexpected Visa requirements and charges......They have gone UP again

New Visa charges and requirements .. :o

Non-British Citizens should read the regulations below:

1. A valid new VISA OF ENTRY is necessary for EVERY ALIEN who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand, except for certain restricted cases, details of which can be obtained from the Consular Section. For more information, please contact Royal Thai Embassy, Consular Section, 29-30 Queen's Gate, London.

2. All types of visa are issued according to the stated PURPOSE OF VISIT which must be CLEARLY STATED by the applicant.

Failure to do so shall inevitably incur delays and may be refused.

3. The visas are issued by the Embassy or Consulates only give right to ENTER Thailand and must be used within 3 days from date of application.

Upon arrival in Thailand THE ACTUAL LENGTH OF STAY (starting from the date of entry) shall be determined and granted at the discretion of Immigration Officers and their friends according to the type and category of visa in possession.

4. A valid VISA OF ENTRY is necessary for EVERY ALIEN or Foreigner who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand, except for certain restricted cases, details of which can be obtained from the Consular Section.

5. All types of visa are issued according to the stated PURPOSE OF VISIT which must be CLEARLY STATED by the applicant.

6. The visas are issued by the Embassy or Consulates only give right to ENTER Thailand and must be used within 1 week from date of application. Upon arrival in Thailand THE ACTUAL LENGTH OF STAY (starting from the date of entry) shall be determined and granted at the discretion of Immigration Officers according to the type and category of visa in possession.

A minimun of 7 day and max of 13 days will be offered.

How To Apply For A VISA

1. Complete and sign Three application forms.

A separate form is required for each traveller regardless of age.

2. Submit with the completed form

- Your passport/travel document which should be valid for at least 5 years from the date of application.

- Five recent photographs

3. FOR OTHER PURPOSES THAN TOURISM, please submit EVIDENCE SUBSTANTIATING YOUR PRUPOSE OF STAY.

Examples of such evidence are in case of transit, a confirmed travel document (air ticket etc.) showing Thailand as point of transit; in case of business trip, a letter from employer and/or business counterpart in Thailand; in case of work in Thailand, a letter of employment from your prospective employer, such document should be addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy; in case of settlement in Thailand with Thai spouse/Children/Parents, your certificate of marriage/birth. Visa applications must be submitted by hand at the Consular Section, Royal Thai Embassy, 29 (Basement) Queen's Gate, London SW7 5JB Applications submitted by and take NOT LESS THAN 2 WORKING WEEKS TO PROCESS.

VISA FEES

Visa fees must be paid in cash or postal order made payable to

THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY (CHEQUES ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE )

Following are the applicable fees as of march 31. 2005 :

- Transit Visa, single entry: 45 pounds

- Tourist Visa, single entry: 125 pounds

- Non-Immigration Visa: 180 pounds for single entry/290 pounds for multiple entries valid for one year

Thai language requirements and understanding with interviews to verify status will form part of the new Visa regulations.

Health Requirements (Subject to changes)

Persons holding passports of or having residence in countries in the Yellow Fever Area must produce a valid international health certificate for Yellow Fever protection at point of entry into Thailand.

A new aids test certificate will be required after May 1 2005.

People wishing to apply for a retirement visa will have to be checked out by a Thai Registered Doctor approved by the Embassy .

A medical or clearance Certificate must be issued (in the Thai Language)and presented at the time of application.

Type "O-A-B" Visas will not be considered otherwise.

The new financial requirements forming part of the Non Immigrant registration will be increased fro 1st May 2005 to 1,600,000 Bt for Single application but will be reduced for married applicants to 100,000 bt.

A Valid Thai Marrage Permit duly notified by a local Thai National approved Mayor/community leader must be submitted with Application.

VISA BY MAIL

The Embassy regrets that it is unable to accept any further visa applications sent to the Honorary Royal Thai Consulates across the United Kingdom.

Only applications made in person at the Royal Thai Embassy will be considered in future.

New Opening times starting 1st May 2005 will be as follows:

Monday -Friday 08-30 to 09-00 and 14-00 to 14-30.
