can someone recommend a shop who sells that brand? Either Pantip or Fortune.

What would be the best alternative brand?

Thx

Linksys (now owned by Cisco) has very good gear and is widely available; Buffalo and SMC are also very good.

Linksys does not make USB GPRS/3G modems.

Sierra wireless and Huawei are probably the biggest manufacturers of those type of products, with Solomon being the third player.

For GPRS/Edge the brand does not seem to matter much. I have a Chinese no brand model (USB) which I bought for about 2500 Baht, and it works just as well as a Sierra wireless aircard I have for which I paid 13,000 Baht (admittedly several years ago when it just came out)...

If you want to splash out on a more expensive 3G capable model, you'll have to be careful on the 3G frequencies it supports as Thailand is a bit of a mess there.

Both Dtac and True will use 850 Mhz and AIS 900 Mhz. Both rather uncommon for 3G. That is until the Thai government licenses the normally used frequency of 2100 Mhz...

All of them are available in plenty of shops, both in fortune and Panthip. Just ask for GPRS USB modem (and check it does EDGE as well, they migh try to sell you an outdated GPRS only model)...
