Chaiyaphum Province Bungalow Accomodation

Featured Replies

I posted this information on another forum about a bungalow operation in Isaan and it was suggested to me recently that I share it on Thai Visa. So here it is. Anyone who intends to visit the Kaset Sombun or Nong Bua Daeng areas of Chaiyaphum may be interested to know about the Barry House Resort. It is a new bungalow development of about 10 bungalows built around a swimming pool. The owner is Barry, an Englishman and a big West Ham United fan. He runs it with his Thai wife, Durian.

He opened for business about the middle of 2008 and has steadily been building up trade. There is a small bar/restaurant, table tennis, and internet. The big draw is the swimming pool, although it has the West Ham club logo on the bottom.

The chalets are new, clean, with air con. But painted by Barry in West Ham claret and blue.

The resort is sign posted. You'll find it on road #2037 on the right hand side as you travel from Nong Bua Daeng to Kaset Sombun; he's close to Kaset Sombun.

Its a great place to stay if you are visiting the village with your tilac but cannot stand the thought of roughing it in the Thai family home. Prices are reasonable (THB500 per night). I know Barry because he is just up the road from my house. Here are some photos of the resort.

The office contact number for bookings is: 044 869250

The business card also gives Barry's number: 081 7304977

Yes nice spot and the pool is good

Yours is it Bazza? :)

I wish he'd built it 6 years ago when I had a g/f from Nong Bua Daeng. Nice to know it's there now, though.

I presume the roads are just as bad now as they were then - sugar cane lorries making pot holes big enough to snap a wheel off a pick-up. :)

Would this resort be handy to travel to from Thepsahtit, like bus connections?

looks ok.there is a similar small resort in the township of baan kwao, which is about 20 minutes from chaiyaphum just off the korat-chaiyaphum main road.baan kwao advertises itself as the thai silk centre.

It can be done in a day. 3 buses:

1. BKK to Chaiyaphum

2. Chaiyaphum to Nong Bua Daeng; and

3. The bus that runs from Nong Bua Daeng to Kaset Sombun and Chumpae goes past the Barry Resort.

The last bus from Nong Bua Daeng leaves at about 4:30 pm. so you'll want an early start from BKK. Miss it and you can always get a samlor.

If travelling by bus it might be more advisable to stay overnight in Chaiyaphum and complete the second leg of the journey the next day.

Baan Kwao is west of Chaiyaphum on road 225 on the way to Nakon Sawan. While the 201 past Chatturat and Dan Khun Thot is the main road from Chaiyaphum to Korat. But there is resorts on both roads.

Cheers
