Here is my situation:

Non-O(Marriage Based) with current multiple reentry permit

Extension valid until 24 Dec 2009

I will have to leave the country on 12 Dec until 18 Dec

If I apply for the extension before I leave I will be in the 30 approval period. Can I get a Reentry permit during that 30 day hold period?

Or would it be better to wait until after I get back?

Believe it is possible but I would just wait and double check that you have everything ready. Including copies of your trip passport stamps/departure card.
