Accident Man Found Dead in Condo with Phone Still in Hand
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. A 31-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his condominium room, still clutching his mobile phone, which was connected to a charging cable. Authorities are investigating the cause of death, with suspicions that electrocution may be involved. The discovery was made at around 22:00 on 2 August. Pol Sub Lt Worakrit Pharuang, an investigator from Bang Sao Thong Police Station, was alerted to the incident and arrived at the scene with rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation and forensic staff from Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute. The deceased, identified as Mr Anukoon, was found lying on his right side on his bed. He was shirtless, wearing only black shorts, and holding a mobile phone that was still plugged into a wall socket. His fingers, face and toes were noticeably darkened. The room showed no signs of struggle or foul play, though it was described as messy with rubbish scattered around. According to Ms Nun, the victim’s sister, her brother had been living alone in the condo for the past two years. She became concerned after being unable to reach him by phone since Friday. Upon noticing his car still parked outside, she attempted to knock on the door but received no response. She eventually forced the door open, only to find him lifeless on the bed with the phone still in his hand. A close friend of the deceased reported that Mr Anukoon worked at a local bakery factory and suffered from depression, for which he regularly took sleeping pills. The friend last spoke with him via LINE at 00:55 on 1 August but had heard nothing since. Although the deceased never shared any particular worries, they had communicated daily. The condo’s security guard stated that he accompanied the victim’s relatives to the unit and helped them open the door. He noted that the room fan was still running and lights were flickering, suggesting a possible electrical fault. He speculated that a power leak may have caused fatal electrocution through the mobile phone. Police officers have gathered evidence at the scene and interviewed family members and colleagues. The body was transferred by Ruamkatanyu Foundation to Chakri Naruebodindra Hospital for a detailed autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Investigations are ongoing. Crime Cha-am Police Nab Man After High-Speed Chase

A 34-year-old man from Nakhon Pathom was arrested following a dramatic 70-kilometre police pursuit that began in Hua Hin and ended in Cha-am, after he allegedly fled a checkpoint out of fear police would discover two illegal firearms and a counterfeit licence plate hidden on his vehicle. The chase, which involved multiple patrol units, concluded when the suspect’s red Toyota Yaris lost control and crashed into a utility pole before careening into a rice field near Ban Nai Yang, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. According to Pol. Col. Apirak Permchai, Superintendent of Cha-am Police Station, and Deputy Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Banchop Singsornsri, the pursuit began when the vehicle, carrying a family of four, failed to stop at a police checkpoint near Nong Chaeng U-turn point and collided with a Hua Hin police vehicle. Despite the presence of his wife and two young daughters aged 8 and 10, the driver accelerated away. Police teams, including a rapid response unit and over ten officers from Cha-am, engaged in a coordinated pursuit. The suspect attempted to evade capture by turning off into local roads and through rural villages, eventually heading towards the canal route in Tha Yang District, where the vehicle finally crashed. The driver, identified as Mr. Khwanchai admitted during initial questioning that he panicked upon seeing the checkpoint. He feared discovery of two homemade firearms and live ammunition concealed inside the car. His wife, Ms. A 32 and their two daughters reportedly pleaded with him not to flee, but he ignored them and sped off. Further inspection of the vehicle revealed that the car bore a fake licence plate (from Bangkok), while the actual registration plate was found inside the car. Police seized the weapons, ammunition, and both plates as evidence. Mr. Khwanchai has been handed over to Hua Hin Police Station for further investigation, including inquiries into the origin of the firearms and the counterfeit licence plate. He is expected to face multiple charges relating to illegal possession of firearms, use of false vehicle registration and resisting police orders. Adapted by Asean Now from Daily News 2025-08-04 -
