My mother is coming over next week and would like to attend mass on Sunday at a Catholic church. Now I have heard that there is one in Silom, but I don't know where? Secondly does anyone know what the mass times are on a Sunday? Thanks in advance!

Soi Convant  ... The one where California Fitness located.... but the church is on the other end .....

That's a Church but it's not a Catholic Church.

The only Catholic Church I know of in Bangkok is in Soi Ruam Rudee, on the corner where the Soi turns rowards Wireless Road; outwardly it look like a Thai Temple and can be a little confusing until one spots the Mural of Mary and Jesus above the door.

Assumption Cathedral in Bang Rak - just off Charoen Krung, not far from the Oriental.

English mass is at 10:00.

There is also St. Louis Cathedral on Sathorn Tai near the Vatican Embassy. Not sure if/when English services are held.

I've seen on maps a St. Xavier on Silom, but have never laid eyes on it. And I've looked. Ok, not real hard. On the Chong Nonsi end, near the old farang cemeteries.

The Church in Soi Convent is the C of E Church.

Marquess, some interesting websites about Catholics here in Thailand.

Nearest BTS? I would say Taksin.

What is the nearest Bts, to the above church? Thanks!

Saphan Taksin. Exit 3. Northish on Charoen Krung. Not all that close - 10 min. walk, or take a taxi. Turn at what looks like soi 40 (see here - http://www.bts.co.th/en/map.asp - click on Saphan Taksin - the cathedral is in that gray area between the pink 2 and the "S"1) Alternatively, you could try the river taxi. Exit 2 at Saphan Taksin to the boat to Tha Oriental. Good luck.

The one on Soi Ruam Rudi is heaps easier to get to, both by car and BTS.

BTS to Ploenchit, get off on the closest stairs pointing towards Sukhumvit, on the side where traffic is heading away from Sukhimvit.

The street there is Soi Ruam Rudi, and it is about a 5 minute walk from the end of the street.
