It's probably a knock-off sword and a good leather bikers jacket will go far in protection. Those as*holes are in Khorat. A friend of mine was in hospital there following an RTA and the guy in the bed next to him was a victim of their handiwork; They'd slash a chunk off him while he waited at the lights.
