O Type Visa From Shanghai

Featured Replies

Have been a resident in Shanghai for 4 years and plan on returning to LOS next month for long term again. I plan to get a 90 day non imm O single entry visa in Shanghai. I am married to a Thai national and will extend my stay based on marriage or retirement but need to season money. Meantime my son is visiting and we plan to visit Laos and Burma. Can I get re-entry permit/s to protect my 90 day O visa? If so where do I get the re-entry permit/s? Cheers.... Have never dealt with Thai Consul in Shanghai. If anyone has would appreciate comments. Cheers...

Have seen no specific reports about Non-O visa from this consulate, but another poster had no difficulty obtaining Non-B visa some time back. Suspect as as Shanghai resident you will not have difficulty obtaining single entry Non-O visa. Suggest you take with your marriage certificate, copy of wife’s ID card plus bank book showing some funds and also a short letter from wife addressed to consulate requesting the issue of the visa.

Once in Thailand you can obtain re-entry permit (1,000 baht single entry; 3800 baht multiple entry) from local immigration office which will preserve your 90 day permission to stay obtained on entry. If you are staying in Bangkok you will need to visit the new immigration office at Chaeng Wattana

If you need more information on documents/process to apply for extension of stay then let us know.

Thanks Thaiphoon. Will probably exit to Burma and Laos from Chiang Rai Province so I assume Mai Sai Immigration will be where I apply for the re-entry permits. Cheers. Will let you know how I make out at Shanghai Consul. Since technically Shanghai is my home country of residence I am going to try for a multi one year non imm O based on family but will settle for a single 90 day.

You must apply at the immigration office serving your area during normal office hours.
