Stuck In Savanaket On Visa Run

Featured Replies

So turns out tomorrow and Monday are public holidays... which means Tuesday I can get my Thai visa. 5 nights in Savanaket, wouldn't mind but I left my iron on back in Thai.

Going back in 2 hours at the 2pm collection time today to see if we can negotate something :):D If that fails I can try get my passport back...

Any tips on the negotiation part? How much could they not resist?

Friday 4th is not a holiday that I know of.

Monday is a holiday in lieu of the king's birthday on the Saturday. Friday is not as far as I know.

Friday 4th is not marked as a day of closure on Savannakhet consulate website.

Laos has no public holidays listed for friday the 4th nor Monday the 7th, is the consulate there having the Thia holiday (7th).

Most consulates will also close on that day, orders from above (Monday of course)

All Thai and Laos holidays will be relevant and the Consulate Closed.

Same with any other country usually.

Maybe "public holiday" was the wrong choice of words... however they are closed Friday 4 and Monday 7.

No passport.

And the efn Mukdahan - Suwanakhet bus left me at the border, it took no more than 10 minutes for me to go through the Laos side, come out and everyone has gone. << ..... >>
