First let me say thanks for any help i can get with this as i can't seem to find anything that is concrete :)

I have lived with my wife for three years in Bangkok and we recently got married at her village. I am now in the process of getting it registered here. My sister is getting married in the UK in March and my wife has been asked to be a bridesmaid at the wedding. My family and friends were all here for the wedding and my sister and wife have regularly chatted on skype and became good friends.

What i would like to know is what exactly do i need as i keep seeing agencies and stuff but i don't see why i would need to use one. We only plan to stay in the UK for 2 weeks as i need to get back to work here.

Any help on this would be great and thanks in advance :D

Until you go to the amphor and sign names you are NOT Legally married. That said I recommend that you go to an agency pay the fee. They know where to cross the T and dot the I. You are going to have to show support, financially here and there, guaranty letters, she will have to show reasons to return to Thailand..etc.

Thanks for the quick reply i understand the amphur situation just been caught up to my eyes in work until after new year. That's when we will sign and register. The part i wanted to know is what type of visa and what is exactly involved. Is there a website that i can visit??? i read through a few including the place at Pathuwan VFS i think if i remember correctly. Anyway seemed a bit of swings and roundabouts without answering the main questions. However i will have a look at an agency and decide from there.

Thanks

For a visit you have to basically show three things.

1) She is a genuine visitor with a genuine reason to visit.

2) She will be accommodated and maintained during her visit without recourse to public funds.

3) She will leave the UK when, or before, her visa expires.

See Guidance - Visitors (INF 2) and Guidance - Sponsors (INF 3) for more information.

See Official UK visa application website in Thailand for how to apply, supporting documents, fees etc.

From the circumstances as you describe them, I can see no reason why she should have any difficulty.

There should be no need for you to use an agent, but if you do decide to do so be very careful. There are many so-called visa agents in Thailand who are at best mere form fillers; some are out and out con artists who will charge you an exorbitant fee and make all sorts of guarantees they cannot back up. If you do use an agent, it is best to choose one who is qualified and regulated in the UK, such as Orchid of Siam and Thai Visa Express who both sponsor this forum.

Do it yourself you only want a Holiday visa , its not rocket science. Go on the Bangkok Embassy site it will tell you what form you want Vaf1 i think , it will tell you to print off the forms the last few pages even tell you what to do .Just make shore you have proof of contact and good reason to return to Thailand , save yourself some Money , To do it yourself about 4000baht, to use an Agency 24,000baht,up, its the same forms ,
