Non-immigrant Mult. Entry Visa.

Featured Replies

I am an 18 year old American volunteering at a grade school in Thailand. I applied for a 12 month, multiple entry visa while I was in the States. I just figured out that I have a three month, single entry visa. I was planning on visiting family in Sydney, Australia, but I'm not sure I can now. Can I apply in Sydney for a new one? Is the consulate there amiable? Could I apply for another tourist visa while I'm there?

My current visa expires in febuary, but I was planning on flying to sydney in the beginning of January (I'm not sure if that is any help to answering my question...)

Do you have a work permit? Expect that and full paperwork would be required for a multi entry non immigrant B visa for work. You can not work on a tourist visa. You are aware of work permit requirements? You mention family on Oz? Is that also your passport? There is a special working holiday program available that you might want to check if you are also Australian.

As Lopburi said, work (and that includes volunteering) requires a work permit. With your work permit you can apply for an extension of stay based on your volunteer work and a re-entry permit with it if you ant to travel abroad. If no work permit, you are working illegally.

If you travel to Australia you could get a new visa, either toruist visa or a non-O if you show a letter from the school.
