I'm going to Pattya for my mates wedding in a couple of weeks. Will I be able to buy a nice suit there or should I take my own?

You can get some excellent suits etc. made just about anywhere in Thailand, certainly in Pattaya. The key item is the measuring, cutting and fitting. For a proper fit you will need at least two fittings, thus: initial measuring, fitting of the jacket body, final fitting of jacket+trousers, then final checking (and probably a bit of nip-and-tuck). Skip tose and you will wind up with the stereotype cheap 24-hour suit and be laughed out of town. Suggest a quality tropical wool for the fabric; you will be shown many bolts of material, look at the edge to see the name and source eg. England (best quality). Of course many such bolts have false labeling <grin>.
