IanForbes
The 98 year old Mother Superior from Ireland was dying which she had sensed without being told. The nuns gathered around her bed trying to make her last journey comfortable. They had surrounded her with her few possessions and things she loved. Young sister Anne Marie gave her some warm milk to drink but she refused. Then one of the older nuns, 75 year old Sister Mary Sarah took the glass back to the kitchen. Remembering a bottle of Irish whiskey received as a gift from the local Tavern owner Frank Hughes the previous Christmas, which had been secreted away in a cabinet, she opened the pristine bottle for the first time and poured a very generous overflowing triple shot into the warm milk. Returning to Mother Superior's bed, she handed the glass back to Sister Anne Marie who again gently held the glass to Mother Superior's lips. Mother sipped a little, then a little more and before they knew it, she had drunk the whole glass down to the last drop. Then a wondrous peaceful smile appeared on her face. "Mother," young sister Anne Marie asked with earnest, "The Sisters have asked that you share with us some of your wisdom before you meet Our Lord !" She raised up her fragile 98 year old body in bed and whispered, "Don't sell that cow !"
