thaiguy55
Hello friends, I will be moving to Chiang Mai in early January, and I'd like to get the local expat opinion on the best Irish pub in town. Thanks! Thaiguy55
wolf5370
Why? Why not the best pub in town? Narrowing the field to about two, I guess you will get an even split between UN Irish and O'Malley's.
jonwilly
One's called UN because it's been owned by more 'Owners' of different Nations, good food though and the other is less Irish then me. john Just find a bar your happy in.
Ulysses G.
Without doubt, the Laughing Leprechan. Too bad it is out of business.
Blinky Bill
Without doubt, the Laughing Leprechan.Too bad it is out of business. Isn't it weird? The Laughing Leprechaun was the only "Irish Pub" of the three in Chiang Mai to be owned/managed by an Irishman.
anonymouse
The Red Lion is owned by a scouser, I think that is as close as you get or if you fancy the Welsh option the Old Bell.
KevinHunt
The Red Lion is owned by a scouser, I think that is as close as you get or if you fancy the Welsh option the Old Bell. Liverpool is sometimes referred to as the capital of Ireland and certainly has a very strong Irish influence. A Dubliner is as close as you'll get to being a scouser outside of Liverpool. Same sense of humour, but they talk funny. I originally considered the idea of opening an Irish pub instead of an English pub (and almost had Eddie from the Escape as a partner!!) but then I realised that after 12years of explaining why an Englishman had a German restaurant (Haus Munchen) I didn't want to go along that path.
