Employer Reducing Pay/hours

Featured Replies

Unfortunatly the company I work for is going through a bad patch and propose to cut all staff from 5 days a week to 4 days a week and adjust pay accordingly. (Rather than making staff redundant and have to pay severence pay maybe??)

Does anyone know if they can do this legally?

Of course they can do it legally

What usually happens is this goes on for some time before they start getting rid of people or another practise which is more common here which is not paying people at all and expecting them to continue working. That way they are not required to pay severance

I know of one airlines here that did not pay stay for 4 months and the workers kept showing up with the promise they would get all the money back but it never happened

Of course they can do it legally

Yep, severance sounds like the better option.

I wish my company would do that!
