You said "another phone line" ???

Does this mean you have one phone line now ?

If so, you can easily get simple dial-up connection that shares

the line with the voice/telephone.

Any 7/11 for 300Baht.

Just need an adapter from any tech store.

This adapter would have a "male" side that will plug into your telephone jack, offering two (or more) "female" sockets on the other side in order for you to connect your telephone and computer modem to the telephone line at the same time.

You can get it at any tech shop or even Tesco / Big C in the electronics department for less than 100 baht.

Adapter? Any modem has a line and phone in .... :o

Unless it is inside a laptop! I've never seen a laptop with a phone in jack!

The adapter is a useful item- I keep one in my laptop case for hooking up in hotels.

Have I misunderstood  Paulfr ?

I thought he knew of a gadget that would allow internet and phone calls at the same time.

That's how I first read it also... Now it seems like he was talking about a "double socket"... :D

Internet and phone calls at the same time are possible with ADSL, through the use of a frequency splitter that connects in the same fashion as a "double socket" adapter. However, an analog 56K dialup connection such as you can buy at 7/11 will "engage" the line just the same as if you are talking on it.

Maybe I'm way out to lunch (wouldn't be the first time) and paulfr was talking about something else like you describe. I'll defer to his wisdom when he replies.
