American fast food definitely belongs in the western forum, not so sure about the food part.

There's a funny quote in the obit

I always smile,” Mr. Bell told the magazine in 2008, “when I hear people say that they never had a taco until Taco Bell came to town.”

That actually applies to me as when I was growing up in the US east, there weren't yet any Mexican restarants. Good thing those greaseballs didn't close my mind to "Mexican" food.

He started in the fast food business in 1948, immediately going head to head with McDonalds in the post-WWII L.A. burger wars. He shifted to Mexican fast food about 3 years later. He also founded der Wienerschnitzel. Taco Bell was sold to PepsiCo, and then to Yum Foods, which is the biggest restaurant operator in the world (they own Pizza Hut and KFC as well).

He founded Der Weinerschnitzel? Didn't know that.

Loved their polish sandwich with saurkraut. Rye bread, polish sausage, mustard,dill pickles and saurkraut. Pair that with some chili-cheese fries and my arteries plugged up in pure rapture.

Especially good at 2:00 am after the bars closed.
