Featured Replies

I an going to Oz April 7th and arive back on day visa expires August 11th

Been told here queens Birthday is a week off for all offices and office where I got last extenion closed have to go and start again at Mae Sai.

as I cannot psoobly get from Swampy to Mae Sai before office close i hought Id buy a 1000 Baht extension here.Where I was sent for last visa.

Oh no we dont do extensions (oddly they had the sign spelled wrong last time " must go big Office 'Great I said airpor C mai immigration where 413 copies of my passport reside even Bangkk1 stp oh no must go m Sai

M Sae say will only issue extension wothin month of expiry !

So arriving Kl 5th pm I rang Thai embasyy to ask if can hand in 6th collect 7th Weelll 6th is aother day off

What do you suggest .i much prefer extend current one with grandfathering options.

I may be Brisbane Toronto and London for stopover but cannot predict dates

Best seems to get an early 28 day /month extention here are there any better/easier places than mae Sai please

Best regards thanking all you visa wizards in anticipation

I have very little understanding of what you have tried to write but here goes.

1. Appears you are here on a one year extension of stay - not a visa.

2. 1,000 baht is a re-entry permit fee - not an extension and does not extend any time. But required if you want to return on same stay.

3. KL has nothing to do with extensions of stay - the only thing available there would be a 90 day entry non immigrant O visa (single or multi entry) and that would not give any grandfather protection.

4. Suggestions:

a. come back a day early or sometime up to 30 days early if you want to keep the extension of stay alive.

b. obtain a single entry non immigrant O visa in your travels and apply for extension again 60 days after entry.

You do not have a choice in where to make extension of stay - you do at the office handling the area you and wife live.

Thank you Lopburi as ever

However I will on last day of my extension

There is no Thai representation at sea or at my last port of call Port Blair

If I can make a connection to Mae Sai same day plane to C Rai then cab

Can I keep it alive

Or can I get my wife to register at a Bangkok adddres which makes it much easier our daughter is there in Minburi?

What will they give me at airport one day?

Where does that leave me if immigration closed when I get there have been told it'll shut for a week pm 11th for holidays

Any help I dnt really feel like starting the whole process again from Scratch in Oz

1. Chance it with a re-entry period and hope for the best - a problem with that is August 12 is a holiday so you would be more than one day late so unless you can talk to them prior to travel and have agreement you will likley end up overstay and not being able to extend on current entry. But you could ask as some officers do go out of there way to try and help if they have the authority.

2. Obtain a new non immigrant O visa within 90 days of your return and use that for entry - obtain new extension of stay after 60 days. Only extra cost is the visa.

3. Take chances as in 1 and if fail plan to trip to Vientiane or other Thai Consulate to obtain the non immigrant single entry O visa required for new application for extension of stay - there would not be any need to return to Oz.

As long as you can meet the 400k in bank 3 months or 40k monthly income extension of stay is not a major problem.
