Khao Phanom

Featured Replies

On a drive from Krabi to NST, I saw something very unusual. I am hoping someone knows what group, Company, goverment organization is responsible!?

I'm 80% it was on the way to Khao Phanom # 4037, before turning right onto #4156, I noticed, for several kms, a distinct lack of litter in the ditches or garbage dumping. All the homes had big garbage cans, yellow I think?, out front. It was just a wonderful tidy neighborhood, like one could find in Canada or Europe. This wonderful, I wish the rest of Thailand was like this, image lasted right into the center of town even! After the right turn it was clean for about 2 blocks. The big cans went for another few blocks but no indication they were used. Then, it was back the usual littered roads and garbage strewn yards.

It took all of the 50's and 60's to get Canadians to, mostly, stop littering. I hope this little strecth is the start of a bigger movement for Thailand. Who is behind this positive move in the right direction?

Are there other communities in Thailand that can boast of good husbandry of their urban landscape?

5 km South of Town, on Google Earth, it looks like what must palm fruit extraction plants. Maybe the Company is behind this? Maybe it just an area where farangs have bought up? Maybe it is a Thai Govt incentive project?
