What is love?

ThaiWoman

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm a Thai woman who lives with my boyfriend in EU. I just want you to share your opinions about 'what is love?’ I have some curious about the relationship these days as we are living together for few months since we meet/know each other for more than 2.5 years.

Does anyone want to share? Maybe your opinion could help me.

Thanks

Thai Woman

I have put on my thick spectacles and my raincoat, and here goes:

Love is waking up in the morning to the sound of tea being poured at the bedside.

Love is being told you are an ugly old man, then kissed on the forehead before you go to work.

Love is hearing "Papa I am finished in the shower"

Love is being told "I love you", on the way to the office.

Love is sitting in the pictures watching a Thai film you feel is funny but wish you could understand your kids screaming laughter.

Love is always finishing an argument with a kiss.

Love is like oxygen.Everybody needs it. Without it life is...nothing. (Moulin Rouge)

Love is watching Moulin Rouge, together and crying in the sad bits.

Love is wishing you didn't have to do a visa run and be apart for 4 days.

Love is coming home, and having one to come to, and not a house.

Love is arguing about silly things and then making up with great things.

Love is a child, growing, needing help and getting it.

But thats just OUR opinion.

Wow, great post, man!  Great imagery!

Thank you for that, it may have been what was needed to get him to join which I have been trying for 2 months. He wrote most of it. :o

That was beautiful IT - seriously, my eyes welled when I read it.

To quote another great line from Moulin Rouge "the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return" - think you've achieved this  :o

I do not think more definitions needed..

Love is Love..and it is the oposite of lust.

If you are not in Lust, then you are in Love..

The scary bit for me was that I said to my son, you tell me. and that's about what we came up with between us in less than 5 minutes. We passed to my wife for comment and suggestions. She ordered Kleenex Tissues.

I am exraordinarily proud of him, not only for that, but for everything he is, as a person in his own right, as well as, in his participation in our family.

Thnk you all for your comments which have been shared with him, at least some of them. More tonight after he gets home from school.

One of the enormous strengths of this forum is it's capacity to provide a space where people who think join together and think and support each other, in spite of the occasional blow-in adn the occasional irrational post. Unlike social culture thai where all posts are either negative or dismissive. This has become a place to find positive moments, and I appreciate those opportunities enormously.

Thank you, my friends.

All great answers but ThaiWoman, why did you ask?

I have a friend engaged to a European. Everything went nice, but she hated that he told her "I love you" five times a day.

Western people like to talk, Asian girls feel embarassed?

Just an idea.

It's nice to say 'I love you' five times a day. I also like to talk, I don't feel embarrassed. mmm...sometimes I do. We need to talk about everything when 2 VERY VERY different people living together, right? It's quite difficult and it's take time.

I have found this, wrote by Susan Polis Schutz. What you guys think? May I ask myself from this?

Love is being happy for the other person

when they are happy

being sad for the person

when they are sad

being together in good times

and being together in bad times

Love is the source of strength

Love is

being honest with yourself at all times

being honest with the other person at all times

telling, listening, respecting the truth

and never pretending

Love is the source of reality

Love is

an understanding so complete that

you feel as if you are a part

of the other person

accepting the other person

just the way they are

and not trying to change them

to be something else

Love is the source of unity

Love is

the freedom to pursue your own desires

while sharing your experiences

with the other person

the growth of one individual alongside of

and together with the growth

of another individual

Love is the source of success

Love is

the excitement of planning things together

the excitement of doing things together

Love is the source of the future

Love is

the fury of the storm

the calm in the rainbow

Love is the source of passion

Love is

giving and taking in a daily situation

being patient with each other's

needs and desires

Love is the source of sharing

Love is

knowing that the other person

will always be with you

regardless of what happens

missing the other person when they are away

but remaining near in heart at all times

Love is the source of security

Love is the source of life.

Well, well, well.....

Hi Nat,

I'm a coffee drinker.  :D My bf has to get up at 6.45 AM and rush to work in 15 minutes. I don't dare to ask him to make a cup of coffee for me in the rush time.  :o  Well, I get up at 9 AM and have all day before I go to work in the afternoon. Thank you for your reply anyway.  B)

Regards,

ThaiWoman

Personally I think actions speak louder than words. Having your partner make you a cup of tea first thing in the morning without asking for it means more than saying "I love you" 100 times a day.

not if you're a coffee drinker! :o  :D

hee...hee very true - the neanderthal man without his caffeine injection is not a pretty sight  B)

what is love:

love is sex, and more sex, and more sex, and more sex.......

Tomy, stop touching yourself...

ThaiWoman, you can see love every morning... If you wake up before him, watch him sleep; you should feel love right there...
