Is Tot Blocking Port 25?

Featured Replies

For the last few hours I've been unable to send email using my GMX account. It might be a GMX problem, or it might be that TOT has decided to block port 25. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Hi AyG...

just use the alternative port 587 and the problem is gone... and yes, most of the ISP's in Thailand are blocking port 25!

Thanks, fezzi. That fixed it.

Yes.

Any idea why port 25 is blocked?

Before I changed to TT&T/3bb I had TOT. I never could not get rid of the feeling that they block all ports :)

I've always had this issue since moving house and started with TOT. I keep asking them about it, but they're not overly helpful and no one really seems to know what I'm talking about.

I just tried changing the Outgoing SMTP to port 587 and although the test message goes through fine I get the 0x0042109 message come up and my emails still fail to send.

Anyone got any ideas? This is driving me crazy at the moment!

How to change TOT SMTP outgoing port from 25 to 587? Thanks - JD

To change the port, go onto Outlook and click on 'Tools', then 'Account Settings' you should now have a list of your email accounts. Double click on the account you want to sort out and then click 'More Settings', click on the 'Advanced' tab, delete where it says 25 and type in 587. Press 'OK' and click on 'Test Account Settings' to see if it now works.

I still had issues until I deleted and re entered my server information and password. So maybe try that if it still seems to be blocked.

I finally have Outlook working again, Thanks Fezzi :):D:D
