I am contemplating applying for a non-immigrant "B" visa late this year (I'm a 45 year old male U.S. citizen). The owner of my sponsor company has advised me that these are hard to get and that even the owner was turned down when he tried to re-up last year. He said that San Antonio seems to be about the only consulate that routinely issues them, so he highly advised me to apply there (I'm in the Kansas City area). They have an Honorary Consul in KC and I emailed her. She said I just need to make an appointment. My questions:

-From what I've read on this forum, Denver and Houston are also pretty generous when it comes to NI "B" visas. Any other suggestions? (I read that LA is almost impossible).

-If I go to the KC Consul and get turned down, can I apply with the consulate in another city? Is there any record or stamp they put in my passport that would prevent me from applying at another location?

Thanks.

I'm not aware that San Antonio has a Thai Consulate. Non-Texans tend to get their cities confused; maybe your boss means Houston. I get mine in Houston with no trouble, and others have nothing but praise for how easy they are.

St. Louis is on the east side of Missouri, Kansas City is on the west side. San Antonio hasn't moved since it was founded in 1718.

Can't answer your other questions. It's past midnight here now.

Yeah, and thanks for the geography joke. El Paso is farther from San Antonio, than San Antonio is from Oklahoma City. El Paso is almost 750 MILES from Houston. Try that geography on a map of your home country! That 's why Texas has the right to divide itself into as many as FIVE states of the USA. My daughters in Brownsville live about 900 miles from north-most Texas.

Houston, Houston, use Houston. Some people do it by FedEx. I go in person and Michelle remembers me.

Two thumbs up for El Paso!

I had a 48 hour turn around on my multi Non-Imm B visa and they were much nicer to deal with than the LA consulate who seemed to be trying to make it difficult for me. I will use again without a doubt.

But if he's in St. Louis, Houston is far easier to get to than El Paso is. Far closer, many more flights in and out. Also, he was talking about San Antonio, which apparently doesn't have a consulate.
