counrikke
Hi all, I was thinking about possibly starting a business in thailand, dealing with computers / related. Is that a job that foreigners are allowed to do in thailand?
monty
If it's your own business, then there should be no problems. There are a few foreign owned/run IT business around (some of them members here), but it's not that easy to earn your crust. And that is in Pattaya with a huge foreign customer base! paulfr
Probably better and safer to buy an existing business. Contact Sunbelt. They have hundreds of businesses for sale. Note you can not get hired as an employee in Thailand for any job that a Thai is deemed to be able to do. For example, Thai's can not teach English as a "native speaker" So there are tons of teaching English jobs around. But other areas require you to fund/capitalize a company and own the business in order to get a work permit. For every 5 Thai's you employ, you can get 1 Foreign worker Work Permit. Good luck You will need it. Edited February 8, 2010 by paulfr
