Is there anything much cheaper in Aranya or Bkk than in Siem Reap, or anything that is particularly

desired by ex patriates and locals in Cambodia, but not normally available there?

The answer is none of the above.

The cheapest stuff is inside the Cambodian border away from the tourist areas

However there is so much knockoff and counterfeits its crazy

Even the booze and cigarettes

Hard to believe some of these places do not manufacture their own products that would be desirable to the west but that apears to be the case

I shopped on the Thai side of the border a few years ago...mainly crap and cheap stuff. Like said above, be careful of knockoffs....especially booze and cigs!
