Talking about constructing a perimeter wall on my wife’s property, I’m double-checking with y'all for the proper terminology. If I use “bpa-ri-monton” ปริมณฑล for perimeter and “gam-peeng” กําแพง for wall, is this correct?

Perhaps with "kampaeng " - fence?

รั้ว means a fence

ล้อม means to surround

so i would guess that you want to ....build fence surround house

or just ..... build a surrounding fence

i'm sure your builder will understand you and will probably repeat your request using the correct words.

Gum Paeng is right if the fence is going to be solid - made of bricks, etc. "Rua" may be better. For the area to be fences, use "ahna-khet".....

Your definition of foothold in Thai IMO seems to mean foothold in a figurative sense, not a practical, concrete one.

"Dtam-naeng thii man kong" to me sounds like "A position (within a hierarchy, company) which you do not lose easily." I have only heard "dtamnaeng" used in an abstract sense. Maybe I will soon learn something new though :-).

I was looking for the term we use to define the footing on which the course of blocks sits. Did not realize "footing" can be illustrated in Thai in so many ways!

So, it appears "หล่อคาน" (casting the beam for being the footing of the wall) is the one I'm after.
