ปริมณฑล กําแพง

Talking about constructing a perimeter wall on my wife’s property, I’m double-checking with y'all for the proper terminology. If I use “bpa-ri-monton” ปริมณฑล for perimeter and “gam-peeng” กําแพง for wall, is this correct?

Thanks Tax, just don't know which one to use in my example:

ล้อมรั้ว

lóm rúa

แวดล้อม

wâet lóm

รุมล้อม

room lóm

โอบล้อม

òhp lóm

Perhaps with "kampaeng " - fence?

ล้อม means to surround

so i would guess that you want to ....build fence surround house

or just ..... build a surrounding fence

i'm sure your builder will understand you and will probably repeat your request using the correct words.

แวดล้อม รุมล้อม โอบล้อม i dont think are applicable here

where are the big guns when you need them !!

Gum Paeng is right if the fence is going to be solid - made of bricks, etc. "Rua" may be better. For the area to be fences, use "ahna-khet".....

How do you spell "gum paeng"? กําเเพง?

Which connotation of "footing" below is it you need, BoonMee?

Your definition of foothold in Thai IMO seems to mean foothold in a figurative sense, not a practical, concrete one.

"Dtam-naeng thii man kong" to me sounds like "A position (within a hierarchy, company) which you do not lose easily." I have only heard "dtamnaeng" used in an abstract sense. Maybe I will soon learn something new though :-).

ลงเสาเข็ม(pound down the piles), หล่อตอม่อ(casting the footing on the pile's position), ผูกเหล็กเสา & คาน(tie iron bars together for being the struture of column and beam),หล่อเสา(casting the column on the footing),หล่อคาน(casting the beam for being the footing of the wall,from a column to another column) ,ก่ออิฐ (join the bricks)

I was looking for the term we use to define the footing on which the course of blocks sits. Did not realize "footing" can be illustrated in Thai in so many ways!

So, it appears "หล่อคาน" (casting the beam for being the footing of the wall) is the one I'm after.
