Best Area/guesthouse To Stay In Chiang Mai, Sukothai & Lampang

I'll appreciate if someone can guide me in which areas of Chiang Mai, Sukothai and Lampang it's best to stay in and maybe indicate also any cheap but good guesthouses or similar accommodation to stay in these 3 places. Will be glad if this area is close to all amenities which includes some pubs nearby where we can have a couple of beers in the evening, but at the same time being an area which is not too busy, not too expensive and not too noisy. Our budget is not more than 500Baht each night. Just to let you know we will make 2 nights in both Sukothai & Lampang and 7nights in Chiang Mai.thanks a lot.

ok then let's make it 600 baht! :) no joking apart, I know it's not quite a lot of money (500baht per night per person) but we'll be happy with just a very basic accommodation like a bungalow, guesthouse, whatever. We have 5 weeks and we're targeting for a 500 baht each night per person. I will be traveling with a friend thus we're aiming at an accommodation of 1000 baht per night for a 2 bedroom..I know maybe it's not easy to find but we'll do our best!...

How are you going to stay 5 weeks? Have you got your visa sorted?

500 baht a night isn't a lot of money!

Thanks for your replies guys. Ed do you think I can find something in Suko New City as well with that budget?..'cause we had in mind to stay in the new city & go for a day tour in the historical park in the Old part.

Of course Raz Visa is sorted...it's a normal 5 week holiday.

Borgy,

I stayed at TR Guesthouse, it was clean and well run, staff were friendly and helpful, the owner speaks really good english. I stayed in a double room with my gf for 400 baht a night, so not sure if they have twin rooms or a bigger dorm type rooms available. They have a website www.sukhothaibudgetguesthouse.com where you can ask questions and they will reply. Free Wifi, only had a breakfast there, but it was good. Only downside was the lack of bars, maybe just me or i was in the wrong part of town :) , i could only find one called Chopper bar, mix of local thai and backpackers/tourists.

You can find room with fan in Chaingmai in the old City for 350 to 400 bath a night

The room is as little more big as the mattress you sleep on
