Overstay Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

I have a tourist visa extension at present and my flight out of Thailand is a couple of days after the extension expires. I am going to get a new tourist visa and I need to know if I will have any problems getting a tourist visa if I overstay my current visa. :):D:D

You'll have no problems getting a new visa, just pay your fine (500 baht/day) at the airport and you'll be OK.

If you get caught on overstay beforehand though then you will be in trouble.

bt 2000 per day over stay fine, thats the end of it

Hi, thanks for your reply. where can I check if it is 500 baht as moonraker said or 2000 baht as you said. Ross

It is 500 Baht a day.

The overstay fine to 500 baht a day, max 20,000 baht. A small 'overstay' stamp will be put in your passport, but does not prevent re-entry or obtaining another visa. As said, your biggest problem is if you get caught up in an innocent police check before you get to the airport. Being on overstay will lead to detention, hauled up before a judge and then deported. I would suggest you give consideration to altering your flight.

Thanks for the information about the stamp. Ross

go to the immigration office and extend your visa again for 1.900... show your ticket (= reason)

sure you will get few more days!

Only one extension can be made on a tourist visa.

Yup, the Op cannot get a further extension.

Huh? You can not get 2 extensions on a double entry tourist visa?

Yup, the Op cannot get a further extension.

Just want to confirm: Assume the OP got a 30 days extension on a 60 day tourist visa, would it really be impossible for him to get the maximum 7 days extension when showing the flight ticket?

Yes he could get a 7 day under review stamp for 1,900 baht if officer will issue; but most/many people who ask are told to just pay the overstay when only a day or two.

One extension per entry with a border run between.

Can not get extensions back to back on this visa.
