Bankok Airport To Pataya Travelling Info?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am coming to Bangkok for 3 nights and then going on to Pataya for 18 nights holiday, what do you recommended as the most cost effective travel arrangements for that journey from BKK airport to Pataya,i am trying to compare it to what the travel agent is charging me(see if they are charging a fair price) which i think is £40 return, but that does include picking me up from BKK airport to the hotel in BKK Radisson, which i think is right near by the expressway of the airport,so not a far distance!.

Thanks

love you long time :o

The Radisson Hotel Bangkok is conveniently located in the heart of Bangkok's commercial and entertainment district on Rama 9 Road. With the expressway located within a short distance, it is only a 30-minute drive from Bangkok International Airport and 45-minute drive from the fast- growing industrial base-the Eastern Seaboard.

First visit jump a taxi from the airport...about 300bt should do it.(about a five spot )

If the 40 pound includes the return trip to Pattaya and the trip to the hotel in Bangkok then its fair IMO...............you/ll pay 1300 baht one way from the airport to Pattaya and maybe 1200 on the return journey so by the time you add on 300 baht for the trip to the hotel in Bangkok there is not much in it.

Airport Bus Booth from Don Muang

This is the cheapest way to go to Pattaya and as long as you don't have a lot of baggages its a comfortable way too.

Leave the airport and look out for the AIRPORT BUS Booth.

There are four different buses going to four different direction.

Take the "A3" bus, it's the one that goes to EKAMAI.

The ticket is about 100 Bath only.

The girls at the booth will help you to go aboard the correct one.

Leave the bus at EKAMAI.

Cross the street and go to the EKAMAI Bus Station.

Buy your ticket for a airconditioned bus at the ticket-office on the right hand side of the building.

The ticket is 90 Baht. Go into the building and wait for the bus.

There is a bus every 30 minutes. It brings you directly to the Pattaya Bus Station.

Bangkok has a second Bus Teminal servicing Pattaya every 30 minutes.

It is called MORCHIT (or Northern Bus Terminal). The Bus ticket at Morchit is about 100 Baht. To go to the MORCHIT Bus Terminal, you will need a Taxi.

A Taxi ride from Airport to MORCHIT will cost between 100 and 150 Baht.

At MORCHIT you have to buy your ticket to Pattaya at Booth 48. Usualy the bus is waiting at gate 78. :o:D

40 quid is OK for a reurn ticket from the airport. 1500 to 1800 from Bkk to Pattaya and 800 to 1200 back again.

However you are going to be going from your hotel not the airport aren't you?

the price could be a little cheaper.

I can never be bothered to drag my luggage around Bkk looking for buses etc. (there is even a train once a day) so a taxi is the most convenient option You can get him to stop if you want a break and it should only take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to do the trip.

You could save money in a minibus - about 350 baht each way but then you have to go when they want not when you want.

The main problem with a pre-booked car is you're buying a pig in a poke.

One time I ordered a "limo", the man turned up in a 1966 Merc that wasn't even fitted with seat belts. If you get your car at the hotel or airport you can turn down any heap of crap that they offer before you pay for it ...

It also depends when your flight lands at Bangkok Airport. After spending many hours on a plane from UK, if you arrive at night, you might be better spending the night in a hotel near the airport in Bangkok, then getting a bus, train or taxi to Pattaya the next morning.

Personally, after a flight from Australia I just want to get to Pattaya and take a taxi direct from BKK Airport to my hotel (1200 baht). If you are checking into your hotel in Pattaya late at night, please advise them of your time of arrival - before you leave UK.

dave b where do you get the buses from then. can you provide a bit more info

thanks al

As i remember there is a north bus station and a south bus station in Bangkok you need the south one for pattaya. From Bangkok buses leave Ekamai Bus Depot along Soi 63 Sukhumvit Road. They leave every 20 minutes every day. Cost is 77 baht. hope that helps! :o

You can get buses from either Ekkamai or MorChit bus stations to Pattaya... Much cheaper than Taxis, but pretty inconvenient if you have luggage... You've got to get to your hotel from the bus station in Pattaya too....

When I was doing that route often, I'd get a taxi, quicker and more convenient... It's worth seeing if there are any other farangs around the airport who might share a cab with you - a shared cab should only be 600 each...

If you're on holiday, go for a taxi straight from the aiport. The buses are good but just a bit of a hassle having to get a taxi to the bus station, then the bus, then a songtaew from the bus station to the hotel.

Thanks Pete,

interesting to compare prices with what you said by taxi from BKK Airport to Patttaya!.

I am using Destination Asia as a transfer company,i have used them before when i went to Koh Samui and Malaysia and they were excellent, prompt, courteous, punctual and polite.

To be picked up fron BKK Airport and taken to the hotel in BKK Radison, then taken from Radisson hotel to pattaya hotel, then Pattaya hotel to airport about £38.

Are the yellow and green taxis or red or blue cheaper than the limos from the airport to pattaya?

When i went back in march i was determined not to pay more than 1500 baht, i had the usual touts asking me to go in their "Limo", but was quoting me 2000 baht, i kept saying too expensive. i was there 20 minutes. turning down different touts, until one tout would not leave me alone and kept explaing petrol was more expensive now than one month previous.

I waited 20 minutes with this guy arguing with me telling me this was a good price, (he wouldnt leave me a lone and even called his mate over for some support) in the end i get fed up with arguing the price and got the taxi for 1800 baht.

But i hear stories of so many people getting taxis cheaper. How do you do it?

The metered taxis ive travelled in before are more comfortable than the so called limos and often are quicker to reach the destination (Also the guy doesn't fall asleep while he's driving, like the so called limo i had from pattaya to the british embassy, his head was nodding to the side and only when his head dropped down too far did he wake up. I had to keep coughing to make him stay awake......scary!!)

Are the metered taxi's safe? ive heard of people getting mugged and stuff or that they are owned by mafia! is this true?

What is the best tip to get a cheap taxi?

Hi Big Spuds,i just worked out the taxi fare into u.k money :o ,its along distance to pattaya?,2 hrs?,i am using Destination Asia who are specialist transfer company, they are charging me £38 to pick me us from the airport BKK and take me to my hotel in BKK,then after 3 days taking me to pattaya hotel for 2weeks,then returning me back to the airport.

I have used then before they are excellent, puctual, helpful, friendly.courteous and use nice aircon vehicles either private cars or minibus or coach depends on how many people they have to pick up.I used this company when i went to Koh Samui and Malaysia over the last 2 years.

I've flown in from both Brisbane (8.5hrs) and London (12 f*ng hrs!) and find that in effect, it will take about an hour to get to your hotel in Bkk from the airport, so whaty's the point? You may just as well go straight to Pattaya which will only take about 30 min more.

Another thing that occurred to me is that on the whole, pre-booking your taxi is rather a waste of time as you're unlikely to save any money and if you book as and when you need, you might find that the minibus or other option is just as convenient for one leg of the trip. It's going to be easier if you change your schedule or itinerary too.

Smile, be polite. It really does help if you can negotiate in Thai also. I got a limo from the airport last week to Pattaya for 1500. A couple of months ago I had a regular taxi for 1000 including all tolls on both occaisions. Maybe I just got lucky. Having taken the limo I would definitly recommend a regular taxi, much faster and more comfortable. The driver was a better laugh also,

One last piece of advice on this. I travelled from Patts to Bkk on Monday by Taxi and the guy gave me his card saying that I should call him when I next arrive and he'll arrange to meet me. All for the princely some of 1,155. Not a bad deal from the airport.

Get out there and network!

Hi Everyone .

Arived at airport everything went ok , coming from Australia i took a brand new limo , we agreed on a price of 2000 bht all up the car arrived everything was great . BUT 20 kilometers into the trip driver tells me company needs the car so we drive behind a condo nothing sleasy about it but we swap into a old heap of shit and not the same driver .

Yes i arrived in Pattaya ok but it might be something everyone could point out before you leave airport .

It looks like you're all paying over the top.......

Bkk to Pattaya OLD AIRPORT - 800 baht!

Pattaya to NEW AIRPORT - 800 baht.....the new one is nearer.

The other way there are official prices for a limo from the new airport and I THINK it's 1050 baht.

Check out the airport web site or the posting on THai Visa.

[limo = new or nearly new Camri, and not an old dog of a Merc or Volvo]

Since you are coming to BKK for 3 nights then on to Pattaya, don't bother returning to the airport. Go to the train station and take the train for 33 baht. Takes around 3 hours...... 1 train per day/I think 6 days week.
