Hi,

I think this was asked before - but I can't find the posting.

My wife is back in BKK right now, and will be picking up her new passport on Monday with my surname.

Her ticket back has her maiden name.. her entry permit here (Bermuda) has her maiden name..

The clerk at the dept of foreign affairs told her she's going to have to get her airline ticket updated to her new last name? Which I believe is false...

With her original passport, our marriage certificate, and her new passport is she likely to run into any problems? I can't see why? Her visa card and bank card have her married name?

I would do as told. The airlines are not fooling around with name checks these days. If the ticket does not match the valid ID they can easily say no. We had a problem yesterday with a three year old where birth certificate did not exactly match English spelling of ticket on a domestic flight.

Are you sure your wife is picking up a "new" passport? My wife just got her's updated yesterday with change of surname to mine. They just stamped an ammendment on the relevant page showing her new name. Total cost 100 baht.

I feel it would be safer to change the name on the ticket. I did not change my wife's name on the passport as the airline told me it had to be identical to the ticket. A friend of mine was refused because his christian name was incorrectly spelled.
