Yes some great answer's but I think you have all missed the point. That equate's to 715 baht a day. How the hel_l is he going to stay in Bkk on that sort of money. Hotel, food, forget beer. transport. water. It just aint going to happen.

Easy, you seem to forget that most thais live on less than 100 bt a day,i hope he posts on his day to day experiences to prove how easy it can be done for 2 weeks,if anything it will give him something to do and pass the time.

The actual point is a visa run and he has chosen Thailand to do it,i say good luck and best wishes to him!

Thai's dont stay in hotels and he's not Thai. Big difference

He is not going to be in holiday mode is he???

Hotels?? rooms in khao san for 200 bt ok

I have already pointed him in the direction of a place he can stay free....yes free!!

If he was that hard up he could sleep at many places in bkk...airport,bus stations, parks on a bench!! couch-surfing fuc_k me its not hard.

All depends if you have got a bit of bottle about yer...or maybe too many people have not had it difficult and enjoy putting people down!

edit...illiterate

Yesterday, I was in the Kaosan area and I spoke to a couple of Japanese.

They told that they are staying in a dormitory which cost them 80 baht/night/person.

I forgot the name but it's located at the end of the sub soi (cul-de-sac) between the police station and the old Shell petrol station.

Same street than Shoshana (Israeli restaurant) and Pizza Lanta.

Hope it helps...

That's looking like a fairly decently worked-out list, with perhaps a few things that you might be better off to save weight in getting over here, such as the condoms and the can of beef.

Small pocket-sized torch, a compass, a Thai dictionary and Lonely Planet guide. I small pack of Imodium tablets, and a mobile phone might be of some use too, but that's a fairly decent list for starters. I can only ask that you might classify some of the items under sub-headings such as clothing, toiletries, personal items, etc. just to help deconfuse people like me who can't think any much other way but linearly unless we're sober.

---o0o---

PS: One just came to mind. A small pocket sized power adaptor so that anything you might bring with a power plug or recharger from home will fit into the sockets here, but that's 220vac so it works from Australia's 240vac system, but some home countries differ.

Additionally, a Phillips #2 screw driver and a pair of 6# adjustable pliers.

on your budget, I think you can forget the condoms...!!!!

Nah, I've travelled to many different cities when I barely had two coins to rub together, and that wasn't the case at all. In fact now I have money I still do a lot of the same things I did when I didn't- visit museums, galleries, parks etc.

Hello folks.

I won't be giving day-to-day updates probably, but I can chat a little now. I actually ended up bringing the can of beef, not sure what to do with it, but I have brought it.

I hate the can opener, as it is very sharp and seems to be more of a weapon than a can opener. I may not even take it back to Japan with me (I'm sitting in a net cafe with it by my side right now.)

Thanks for the tip on the J-couple at the 80 BHT dorm, I may look into that.

Um...I'm about to go eat soon.

To the person that mentioned couch surfers, and other free sleeping spots, I've already researched it, and actually stayed at someone's home last night. It was a bit weird, but I"m here alive, and I showered too. (Yeahhh)

Anyway, the point is right. I came here on survival mode and the fact of the matter is that it is easier to survive here than in Korea or Taiwan.

This forum has helped me out immensely and I really appreciate it.

Today I went to the Super Rich with the silver and green sign (thanks for that).

I chickened out a little and took the Airport express 150 BHT instead of a public bus from the airport. I would say that 80% of the farangs were taking trhe Khao San bus, I took the Sukhimvit instead.

Did you ever find that 80 bht place? I'm heading to thailand soon myself. Going to work in Mae Sot :). But I was thinking of visiting bangkok on a budget similar to your own. So if you have any tips do tell :D

I haven't needed to seek out that 80 BHT place yet, but I'm grateful to the folks on this website for providing me with some good starter-info should I need to locate it. Once I'm back in Japan, I will give a decent rport of what my time was like (along with tips, that I actually compiled by reading alot of the back-posts on this website.).
