Just got this modem router thing and something really weird's happening with it. I have changed many different router modems but never had this issue before. The problem is that the web browsing and and everything runs fine, but when i start the torrents, everything except torrents work. Torrent download at very good speeds too. Exit the torrent client and web browsing starts to work again. Is there a certain balancing thing I don't know about. Been through most of the settings on the router but don't see where I could play with these settings.

Modem Router model Belkin F6D4630.

Anyone with an idea on whats wrong?

Believe you are trying to say nothing but torrents work when you have them activated. Your torrent program should be adjustable for how much bandwidth it takes in its settings. It appears to be taking everything now so there is nothing remaining for other ops.

You have done the port forwarding on the router to match your torrent program? That should be the only thing you would need to set up on the router as far as I recall.

If not you may want to read http://forum.portforward.com/YaBB.cgi?num=1264051126/6

It is not so much the bandwidth taken by torrents, but rather the number of connections, that can lead to a still-stand of other Internet connections.

Don't know which torrent client you're using, but try to experiment with settings like "Global number of connections". Set this to less than 100, see whats happening, and take it from there.

I am using UTOrrent. Lopburi. Suprisingly i did not need to port forward on this router. Shows NAT green all the time. Weird.

Sunny Valentine, I dropped down global connection to 90. 30 connections maximum per torrent. limited bandwidth to 200kbps. I could normally do up to 400kbps. Turned off uPnp and DHT networks and now it works. So I really don't know which one of it did it for me. Will tweak when I have the time.

Thanks guys.
