Torrents Down?

Featured Replies

I've tried both The Box and Demonoid. I can get the torrent file, but when I try to use it, the message I get is "Announce failed: tracker did not respond."

Checking my preferences, I find that "Peer listening port: ##### Port check site is down"

I can try to randomize it, but get the same result.

I don't understand the information, but if anyone can explain? Help resolve it? Even confirm having similar troubles?

I was having issues with Bit torrent last week, changed to U torrent, all ok since, demonoid is ok right now.

It is pretty common for me to have torrent trouble during business hours here. I can browse the torrent sites, but the .torrent files themselves will probably not download, or take a long time and then the web browser reports them as corrupted. The problem usually disappears by evening.

My established torrent downloads (in µtorrent) may slow down to pitifully slow speeds, but these too usually pick up in the evening. Then again I've had this problem last a few days on several occasions.

Sometimes it helps it shut down the torrent software, give it a minute to sort itself out, and then re-start.

Just checked, I have current activity to the TheBox.

Seeding, not downloading.

I think the problem was somehow related to that "Port check site is down."

I have no idea what a port check site is, and why it would be up or down, but the problem resolved itself later. No message like that, and torrents flowed as they should.

Still curious about a port check site, though.
