Retirement Visa Renewal Options Uk/thailand

Featured Replies

I obtained my first 12 month retirement visa in the UK and after 12 months in Thailand got a further 12 months right to stay after leaving Thailand and re-entering

So my situation now is that my visa ran out last year and I have clearance to stay until later this year

I am going back to the UK this year and wonder if it is easy ro get an extension/new visa in the UK

Last time I had to get a police report etc which I know if I renew in Thailand I dont need

If I renewed in the UK would I have to get all the same information , not having a UK address now I assume not easy

The one advantage in not renewing in Thailand is that I wouldnt have to transfer 800,000 baht

Yes, but getting all the documents again will also cost a lot and takes a lot of time. Getting an extension in Thailand is much easier.

Note that there are two other ways to be eligable for an extension:

an income of 65,000 a month

OR

a combination of yearly income and money in the bank, together totaling 800,000. In this case no seasoning of money is necesarry.

As Mario rightly says its easier and cheaper to get the visa/extension here..To prove you have a income of 65,000 baht a month go to the british embassy or consulate with 3 bank statements from the UK and for approx 2,000 baht they will give you a letter to take to imergration to get your no hazzle visa/extension.its easy...Dave
