I am currently in Pattaya and I was planning to travel to BKK for one week this Saturday 13th. Is this advisable considering the planned Red Shirt rally? I will be staying around Nana which I think is well away from any Rally points. I guess the main area of concern is being able to enter and leave the city when I want to.

Just make sure that your money is locked up. Those BG can be big trouble. :)

I advise you to take a yellow shirt and a red shirt, not one of those cheap knock-off silk Hawaiian style shirts.
