Indo-Siam
'Caught BTS at Asoke to return home tonight, about 9:40 pm. Climbing up the steps to skywalk level from Robinson corner, I almost ran into a two-man Thai Army team coming down. Very large, tough looking NCO, accompanied by a younger, but very sharp looking radio operator. Both in full field dress, including protective vest - but no weapons, and headgear was black berets. Pinned to left shoulder was a small ribbon/streamer, in Thai flag colors (presumably an "identify friend or foe" insignia, in the event of a possible "green on green" conflict). These weren't conscripts - these were professionals (I spent ten years as a US Army Infantry officer, so I know the difference). They were obviously patrolling the station - they then crossed Soi 19, and continued on toward the MRT interchange. I'd only ever seen troops here once before - last April - when it was a six-man squad, WITH weapons. Steve Indo-Siam
