There was a piece on here yesterday about possible bank runs this week. I can now confirm that Kasikorn have restricted ATM withdrawals at 100 Baht per transaction. It makes sense other banks will follow.

Does this mean that I will be paying 150 baht to the banks here and another 150 baht to my bank overseas to withdraw 100 baht from an ATM?

Surely there's no fears of bank runs on foreign banks, is there?

thinking that could happen, i just withdraw 2 * 10000 baht today and 1 * 10000 yesterday without prob, only the bitter feeling with the 150 baht each time

Try the ATM's at AEON if you can find one. Often are at Tesco stores. There are no ATM fees for withdraws from them. I have used the ones at The Mall (Bang Kapi), Tesco (Bang Kapi) and Center City in Bang Na without haveing to pay the 150 baht.

I have never ever drunk that poor mans <deleted> so no thats not the reason and suggest you explain that to the crowds lining up at the ATMs at Tesco as I type
