My friend told me a good saying for those motorbikes the wairun's drive around when they've taken out the muffler. It goes

ท่อมีเสียงล้อไม่หมุน it basically translates as the exhaust pipe has a noise but the wheels don't turn. Like it sounds like a fast bike but it ain't.

Interesting. ท่อ is short for ท่อไอเสีย which is the exhaust pipe rather than เครื่อง which is the motor or engine. Also มีเสียง is talking about the sound of the exhaust whereas ใช้การได้ would indicate that it's working. Strange translation but anything is possible in this language of confusion. :)
