Philippine Passport Holder Wishing To Visit Thailand

Featured Replies

Does a person with a Philippines passport need special documentation to enter Thailand? I want to bring my friend over from the Phips, but she said something about an "invitation." Anyone have an idea of what she's talking about? She's holding a non-b at the moment I think too, so even if she did need an invitation, wouldn't she be exempt from it due to the non-b visa? Thanks guys.

I expect it may be to get out of the Philippines rather than to enter Thailand. There immigration can be very active at stopping ladies traveling alone without extensive documentation of purpose.

I'll tell you my recent experience to warn you. I was having a 30 year old Philippina woman visit me last month. She had a round trip ticket, a letter of invitation, and a lot of money to show, but the immigration officials in Manila would not let her leave. As a result, we lost the cost of the ticket because it wasn't the airlines fault. I think it's very difficult for Philippina woman to travel alone out of the country, whatever they show the officials. The official told her that my invitation letter hadn't been notarized at the US embassy, that she failed to bring a snapshot of me for him to look at, and more generally that western guys were dangerous. My advice (if you don't want to lose the price of a ticket) is to spend the extra money to bring her over here yourself. Then I think there should be no trouble.

:) very correct: it happen to my girlfriend. They let her fly from Cebu to manila and in manila she was stopped. Even she was before in China and Hongkong. Of course lost ticket too. Later we succeed and went to Philippine (not any other) Embassy in BKK and let confirm the letter of invitation with all medical guarantee etc.! Why you think had second time? Even she had the my affidavit confirmed and signed by the Phil Embassy, a immigration officer try hold her back, then he ask a bribe of 5000 Peso. She call me and I informed the immigration office I will fly to manila and meet him with the Embassy of my home country. So he could pass.

It isn't only question of security for the Filipinas but one of the most dirty corruption of some of Phil Immigration officers. Manila isn't a safe town too for young woman, what she shall do with all lost tickets???

Try fly out from Clark (Manila) via Kuala Lumpur, it seem Bangkok is a red light and argument for some officers.
