Getting Construction Work Inspected

Recommended Posts

I will be doing a condo renovation of a shell in Pattaya very soon. I will hire an architect and contractor. I will have a proper spec sheet, specify the materials and fixtures used and take no short-cuts. Do renovations like this require a proper city inspection for the various phases of work (electrical, plumbing, etc.)? If not, can one be requested to hopefully insure things are done properly?

Gov't Inspectors ? no chance....you can "request one" from the contractor or Architect but you might as well save your money. and any guarantees aren't worth the paper they're written on.

Instead, hire a local expat with lots of local experience, Thai speaking and able to send you updates with photos (email) and details. Of course you'll be paying a premium so if your remodel isn't big enough then wait until you can supervise it yourself.

Lots of farang there in Pattaya having remodeled, kinda surprised no response to your post....
