Chiang Mai Vipassana Technique Question

Hey there folks,

I'm an Australian who has just come down from ten days of vipassana meditation at Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep.

Potentially a life changing experience - I've upheld an inconsistent 'mindfulness of breathing' practice for three years but this was something altogether different! I have felt very connected since leaving...

A question for anyone who has completed the 21-26 day courses at Wat Rampoeng, Wat Chom Thong or Wat Phrathap Doi Suthep (the monks told me that they share the same techniques)...

In ten days I was introduced to the first twelve (of twenty-eight) points of awareness (using 'rising, falling, sitting, touching').

I'm interested to know the order of the next sixteen! I know them bar two but I'd really love to know the sequence. It seems this technique is exclusive to Chiang Mai so I haven't found anything online.

Any help would be much appreciated! :)

Order known:

1. Right rear hip

2. Left rear hip

3. Right buttock

4. Left buttock

5. Right outside knee

6. Left outside knee

7. Right outside foot

8. Left outside foot

9. Right top of foot

10. Left top of foot

11. Right top of kneecap

12. Left top of kneecap

Order unknown:

Right top middle thigh

Left top middle thigh

Right top inner thigh

Left top inner thigh

Solar plexus

Right front shoulder

Left front shoulder

Right outside wrist

Left outside wrist

Right rear shoulder

Left rear shoulder

Rear centre of back (behind solar plexus)

Right lower back

Left lower back

?

?

Thanks again! :D

Every thing o.k.

But no attachment to technical procedure. Let it be. I know the teaching of wat rompoeng. I have been ordained monk in wat umong beside wat rompoeng twenty years ago. I had no meditation teaching, I was free to exercice in my way. When I had problems I could ask a German monk , now in Australia, what to do.Check out yourself with wisdom, and you will see what happens. Anapanasati from Bhikkhu Buddhadasa is the best help.

The way to awakening has a lot of roads. Don't believe technics, systems, teachers, methods, have faith to the Buddha in yourself.

Thankyou Lungmi,

Reminds me of one of my favourite quotes:

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. –The Buddha

I doubt the order of the sequence is important, do it in any order you want.

If you really want to know you'll need to do the 26 day retreat, I did it 12 years ago and I didn't get the impression the order was important.

You'll probably find meditating outside of a retreat it's too complicated to practice this, better to stick with the rising and falling.
