Raising the prices and calling it a "promotion"...

Checking the prices carefully I agree with you

currently

20 trips is 440 baht = 22 baht per trip

30 trips is 600 baht = 20 baht

40 trips is 800 baht = 20 baht

the new one is

15 trips = 23 baht per trip

25 trips = 22 baht

35 trips = 21 baht

45 trips = 20 baht

The only interesting thing with this new prices is the 15 trips pass.

Occasional travelers might find it very interesting.

The other passes are just a good way to make more money now that BTS has become an essential transportation for many Bangkokians.

Meanwhile, rush hours are more and more packed, but frequency of the trains remains unchanged... and extension after On Nut is still not opened.

Two of the 12 ordered 4 car new trains are in country and slowly being tested. They were made by CNR (China) and are a copy of the Siemens trains. There are some concerns that the cheaper CNR rolling stock will not be as realiable.

These new 4 car sets were originally meant to enter service mid last year and then that became Feb this year which has now become mid year but really it is anyones guess?

The On Nut to Bearing ext will not open until Dec 2011 so don't hold your breath waiting for that!

Just doing the math on this, if the average person takes the train to work and back 2x a day x 22 days per month, then the 45 trip one makes sense. however, most people i know use the train a bit more (weekends, evenings out) than that. 45 x 20 is 900 baht. Why can't they just do a 60 trip pass for 1000 baht, simplify the accounting? Cut down on the lineups at stations with people paying by cc for their passes and so on?

A question from a would be tourist...

Does per trip mean from any point to any point - Say Victory Monument to Chitlom = 1 trip

.. or from station to station i.e. Victory Monument to Chitlom = 4 trips

And would tourists be able to buy the adult passes? How about for kids? Do you get them the adult passes too?

xXx
