Having More Than One Sponsor

Featured Replies

I want to put my details down on the application as the sponsor and person who my wife will be staying with.

But as Scouser and others have said, I should get better chances of success if my step-dad puts in as well. So he gives the ok in a letter, that we can stay at the family home and that he has enough money in bank and good wages.

But where on the form should this go.

I want them to see that I am her husband, and I will be supporting her but I have another helper in my family (Mother and step-father)

Do I leave these out of the application and just bring their details when submitting the application as added papers, in which to show they want to helpn look after her also?

Yes. In the letter they write they should identify themselves, anyway. If your mother and father are going to act as guarantors, they will also need to provide evidence of their ability to financially support you and your g/f should the need arise. When you submit the application, you should write a covering letter to accompany it, in which you can explain all of this.

Cheers,

Scouse.

Thanks a lot scouser, iv started to write a few details on the application in pencil, and only use this form as a draft. When I have enough info Il start to do the form in pen.

What Il do is open a new post nearer to the time about the form and any things Im having trouble with.

Thanks again mate!

What does the co-sponsor need to add to "prove" they can support the applicant ?

Tax returns, bank/brokerage statements ??

Paul,

Yes, as it relates to the UK. If I recall correctly you're American and different rules may apply.

So, on the application who do you put down as the sponsor? Westybrook or his stepdad? Because on the form it's done in such a way that it seems to blur the lines between sponsor and partner (to someone who is fairly unfamiliar with this). Westy wants to act as a sponsor (saying he will support her) but financially his stepdad looks better on paper. Doo you just submit the stepdad info aswell along with a letter but still put westy down as sponsor.

I hope I'm making sense... it's been a long day.

Yes, Westy is the principal sponsor and completes the form as such. In his covering letter he then states that his step-father is willing to support his wife, should the need arise, in order to ensure they do not become a burden on public funds. He also submits a separate letter from his step-father confirming this and giving proof of his ability to do so.

Thank you man with a plan, you seemed to explain it better than I did.

The Scouser as I always do and always will, thank you for your added reply mate!

This has put my mind at ease with the primary sponsor being myself now :o
