w11guy
Is it possible to get BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 in BKK via cable or satellite? If so, what's the most convenient way? Are you able to watch BBC iPlayer there? I presume it's blocked but wondering if there is a way around this.
schmutzie
I've been looking into the same stuff. I've been looking at access from internet, so my response applies to that: Google your question and you'll find some suggestions. iPlayer won't work. Some suggest you can download. Not sure. Livestation and Zattoo also don't work. The common response seems to be to either have a proxy setup in the UK that you can access (ie. a computer with an IP in the UK) or to pay a company for either a tunnel or proxy (free ones tend not to work). I think I dicked around with Tor awhile back but it wasn't any good. BTW, I believe using proxies might potentially be considered illegal in Thailand (or borderline, whatever...) Another option is to use one of the re-streaming options. There's quite a few apps floating around, especially for PC/WIN. Or re-streaming sites, such as justin.tv or upstream. However, for your daily TV needs I don't think any of these options are very good other than for one-off events, such as sports etc. If you're after specific shows I would look into certain dedicated (hint), rapid (hint hint) torrent/download sites that cater to that market. Of course, check the small print and be aware that what you do might be illegal. I hope that's enough of a disclaimer.
schmutzie
I forgot to mention that BBC World appears to be commonly available, but I don't think that's what you're after...
tlongdon
use www.my-private-network.co.uk I use it worldwide. Once you're connected to their VPN, you can watch iPlayer in any country. £5 per month via paypal.

beano2274
I just use thebox.bz for free. Could you invite me too please? Remember if you use TheBox to download you need to have a positive ratio - i.e upload more than you download, so that your account stays open. TheBox is just to download torrents if you want one without a ratio then try uknova or piratebay (I use piratebay for Match of the Day and Top Gear). beano2274
To the OP, the only way to watch those channels is with slingbox, use google to find out about it. You can also try BBCiPlayer, but your IP address should be a UK one, as another poster stated. Edited April 29, 2010 by beano2274
siampolee
There is the option of www.uknova.com. Again you need to maintain a ratio but it is available and easy to use.

When using UKNOVA I never notice my stats, also if I download something I keep my computer on all night but the UKNOVA tracker seems to find others or just stop trying to download from me, therefore my ratio (If I ever find where it is located) is not very good. Samuiboy
Hi, for UK TV download VLC player then follow the instructions. In VLC Top left hand corner- left click onto Media and a menu should drop down. It will show Open Network Stream, This will open and show to boxes Protocol and Address. Click on the arrow and then click on HTTP and then enter the number codes below, watch out you have to get it accurate. Then click on play at the bottom right corner and this will open up the streaming. Keep repeating this for each address. Once you have a few entered and you want to go back and open another address left click on media and then on Recent Media then on the relevant address. You can only have 10 addresses showing at any one time so keep the addresses handy. nidge
I use thebox.bz too. Great for downloading F1 and watching it later. Keeping a positive ratio can be a problem though, especially if your upload speed is slow.
eMzyme
Im have lots of invites to the box so if you want one pm me. but as said above you need to seed and keep a positive ratio or I could get banned.

See where your user name is in the top right hand corner, hit the drop down box to the right of your user name and it shows your score. My score is well in the red and despite leaving it connected for hours on end it hardly ever budges, for some reason it just seems reluctant to upload. schmutzie
Well, just had some progress on Livestation using a free account from a service called ItsHidden (I believe there are more out there). At the moment I'm favoring free solutions, so that's what I'm testing. Video/audio quality is choppy (and the OPs requested channels are not part of Livestation partner channels so might not help anyway) Zattoo not loading channels through the service. Not sure why. Still need to test BBC iPlayer. Also, does anyone know how to point only certain apps (Livestation, iPlayer etc.) at the VPN rather than all the traffic (eg. mail and browsing)? I'm on MacOSX SL. Using ItsHidden VPN shows a slight improvement, but still have video/audio lockups every few seconds. I'll try some other free VPN services.
