I have noticed that many appliences in Thailand (TVs, music systems etc etc) retain the stickers on them.

Keeping boxes is another thing my wife does (shoe boxes, nik nak boxes, buscuit tins etc).

As luck would have it we have five large bedroom's, one Ive told the wife is her's to put all her BIT'S in I looked the other day she has Mag's: there dating back 6 year's. Why do you want to keep??? Reply maybe some one will want them. Well if they have not wanted them in 6 year's they wont now. Reply I like. It go's well with the, as mentioned box's, and plastic goodies, that also been there about the same time. Buddha help us. Oh and she dose keep them clean. Up date in another 6 year's.

At least your missus is clean.

Mine cleans to a certain height and leaves the cob webs.

Out of sight, out of mind.

Maybe it was a test to find out how clean or helpful you are.

I think you failed it.

You'll also find that items are assembled (like furniture, shelving, etc.) with the clear plastic wrapping around individual components intact. Later when trying to remove the plastic sheeting bits-and-pieces remain, stuck by the fasteners. Forever.

The one I can never understand is why they never remove labels from anything like sinks, fridges etc.

Even in quite smart hotels the label will still be stuck on the bathroom fittings.

must be a different thai personality i have here in my house: husband throws any boxes etc away and we (kids and i) are the ones that save them for recycling or future use...for storing sewing things, bus tickes for refunds, whatever .... he just threw away a perfectly good chocolates tin ; it was perfect for storing all our receipts and stuff that we have to give back tot he kibbutz...i just took it out of the garbage.

also, he throws away bottles (should be recycled), beer cans (can get refunded), cereal boxes and package boxes (recycled) and we are always pulling them out of the garbage.

he hates clutter so throws away stuff that ive saved for future use (jars, containers, egg cartons), but saves anything mechanical, metal, electrical, even if it is totally junked.

as for tickets/stickers, it proves that things are new and not 2nd hand, recycled or old...

If you've been brought up in a house without sealed windows and doors, gaps between the wood in the walls and floorboards (read Glorified Shed) then you will keep things in boxes and the plastic covers on to keep the ever present dust off.
