Topping Up Internet Plan

Hi,

I bought a AIS super3G aircard dongle from Paragon before the redshirts took it over. I tried calling 1175 to top up my plan with my Kasikorn bank account but it seems like they are only available during business hours?

Is there another way to top up the plan? It would be preferable if this can be done online/phone. Is there another AIS store like they have in Paragon, near the Sukhumvit/Phrom phong/Thonglor/Ekamai area? I've seen dtac stores around...

Hmmm.. I call them at all hours of the day and I usually get to speak with someone in just a few seconds.

Just put the SIM-card into a phone and top up the amount you are willing to use (now AIS is offering unlimited hours pr. month for 695 THB) and then just call 1175 and follow the instructions to get to customer service. Order the package you want and reinsert it into the USB-dongle. If you not buy a package, and only top-up the card, you will pay 1 THB pr. minute.

If you want to unlimited package just dial *138*0338*612818# I think that should still work. I you need to chack your balance you can use the software that came with it. But if you wanna chack it on a phone just dial *139# and it should be given to you in seconds.

The top-up cards you will find virtually everywhere in Thailand. Any 7-eleven or other kiosk will have them, so there is really no need to go visit a TeleWiz-shop, which is what AIS usually call their shops. These can be found in most Big-C's or Lotus malls.

I'd also like to add that there are several ways to speed up that connection too, or maybe not the connection, but the experience of browsing on your computer. At least if you are using FireFox. Also you should consider to install a plugin called FlashBlock. It will block all those timeconsuming and bloated flash ads that are everywhere. Fortunately all flash content on a page can be loaded with just clicking on them. This will save you a lot of bandwith!!

Also you might consider to install the plugin called DownThemAll! With this you are able to download larger files in several sessions and using multiple connections. So if its a really large file you might pause it and resume it later without any hickups.

And last you may want to install a plugin called Download YouTube Videos +. This not only applies to YouTube video but allmost all videos that are conatined in a Flash-based player (wich is allmost most of them). By having this you can download it to you computer and watch it later, instead of having to watch a few seconds before it starts buffering again. It is most helpful.

All these things have now made my life using EDGE/GPRS somewhat bearable with regards to how I interface with the internet world.
