Teen who died after cancer jab did not suffer allergic reaction

A teenager who collapsed and died shortly after being given a cervical cancer jab did not suffer an allergic reaction to the vaccine, an inquest heard.

Coventry Coroner's Court was told Natalie Morton, 14, died as a result of a previously undiagnosed tumour which had spread into her heart and lungs.

Natalie, of Stoke, Coventry, died on September 28 last year after being taken ill at the city's Blue Coat Church of England School, less than two hours after receiving the vaccine.

Natalie's death led to a precautionary recall of one batch of the HPV vaccine, but the inquest heard that Natalie's death was not due to a reaction to it.

Detailing the findings of a post-mortem examination, pathologist Alexander Kolar said Natalie's underlying condition was so severe that she could have died at any time.
