Supporting Visa On A Non Imm Rd Visa

Featured Replies

Hi

My wife has a Non Immigrant RS visa for her work which is now extended through to April 2011. As her husband (not working now), what visa should I be applying for now supported by her?

I currently have a 1 year multi entry Non Imm B visa which is expires at the end of this month (though the most recent 90 day entry stamp is valid until mid June) so I will need to sort out a new visa. I am a UK national.

Would appreciate any advice, thanks.

Since she has a 1 year extension of stay, you cna apply for a 1 year extension of stay as well as her dependend. Just go to immigration with proof of your marriage and your wifes extension of stay.

You will get an extension till the same date she is allowed to stay.

Thanks very much. Does my wife have to come with me to Immigration or can I go alone?

Best if she goes with you, to confirm and show her passport and work permit. Let her make coppies of both.

HI

She doesn't actually have a work permit yet - (she still has to apply for that) - she just has the extension of stay until April 2011. Is that a problem for me?

Thanks

Yes, and for her as well. Without a work permit she is not allowed to work and subject to prosecution. If immigration would want to see her work permit, there would be problems.

I would wait till she has the work permit before applying for an extension for yourself. That should be OK before your current permisison to stay ends.
