bushke
Can anyone tell me where the best place is to buy a wedding ring in Bangkok? I do not mean 24 carat gold ONLY 14 OR 16 CARAT. Thank's in advance
IanForbes
At the divorce store.
7seamonkey7
18ct is the norm. Just buy a plain 22ct gold ready made band in one of the busiest looking airconditioned stores on yowarat. Good value, no labour charges and most easily cashed in at all divorce shops....

dinooz
ask a tuk tuk driver(,joking) cant go wrong investing in gold as stated, look for reputable stores normally with a few stores together,Chinatown a good place to look ,Thai gold measured in weight (baht) 1 Baht = something like 18,000 baht and rising
Chunky1
gold jewelery is not investing in gold, logically at least.
ThaiFelix
No, where I come from an engagement ring has diamond/s (thanks to Mr Oppenhiemer) while, generally speaking, a wedding ring has a plain gold band. Any gold shop will do, not a lot of difference. However, it must be remembered that while the wedding ring is probably the cheapest outlay you will have in a wedding it can also be the most dangerous. A simple wedding band on any other finger is fine...no consequences. However the same, very simple, object placed on the second last finger of left hand can bloat a women of size 6 to size 12 in a matter of days. I have seen this happen on many occassions including with my wife. They can have the most desirable slim bodies for years no matter what, until that band goes on that particular finger..then whamoa..its the Goodyear Man!! It can also have disasterous mental affects as well, such as turning a tiny, attractive, shy and unselfish waif into an overweight grotesque demanding control-freak bitch. I have come to the conclusion there is some kind of gold-sensitive spot there that can react directly with the brain overriding all logic. I guess your real problem here is not where the ring is coming from but where it's going to take you??
ThaiFelix
gold jewelery is not investing in gold, logically at least. Mine and my wife's jewellery is an investment to us, considering what it cost us and what we can sell it for today..a fair investment actually. bushke
Like i said in my first post i do not want a 24 ct ring this is a wedding ring and is suppose to last not bend and dent because the gold is to soft. Anny way i do not want to start a pro and con discussion about 24 ct gold. I am looking for a white yellow gold mixed ring, there can be some diamonds in but they not have to be big. Can anyone help me find a store in BKK?
Zolt
Honestly after weeks of looking for a nice wedding band in Bkk - as in not that yellow soft thing they use there but durable white gold, we just gave up and bought it overseas. You might have had some luck around Paragon or Siam Center but...
kurnell
I bought my wife a wedding ring from a specialist lapidary, where the Thais go. I have a card for it somewhere. If it turns up, I will message you. Very, very good price. They replaced a stone for free when it fell out. Not one of these dodgy gold shops either.

You might have had some luck around Paragon or Siam Center but... You're sayinig you can't find wedding bands in Bangkok? I find that very hard to believe. Try World Gems. They have a huge store in Bangkok. I haven't been to the Bangkok branch, but I picked up some very nice wedding bands at their Pattaya branch. The good thing about buying there is that you'll get a guarantee certificate which allows you to trade it in anytime for something of equal value. If you want a new ring, or you get a divorce you can just trade it in for something else. They'll clean and polish it anytime for free, or repair it if damaged. For example, an 18k gold ring with single 0.16 ct diamond (for the wife) cost 28K. A large 18 ct ring for me cost 22K + 1K to expand it to size 72. How much was the weight of the ring? 2 years ago i had a ring custom made in Koh Samui and i paid a little under 1.000 bath per gram of 18ct white gold. I have went to some gold shops in Central shopping mall and there the price seems about 70% higher.

dtrain5000
I just bought an engagement ring - 18K white gold .36 carat center-stone. H color SI quality Hearts and Arrows cut - really good deal at Anyani gems at MBK. I stopped at probably every single shop there and they had the best deals. The price tag said 46,000 and I got it for 21,000..Haggle the price..but if your just buying gold and no diamonds the price will not be as negotiable. But they do have some nice gold bands in 18K. you probably wont find anything 14K as Thais will not even sell or buy back. You will also get a guarantee card with them and you can trade in or upgrade for a 10% fee of what you paid - diamonds are harder to resell than gold in Thailand. This shop is on the 2nd floor of MBK...Just down from Burger King about 200 meters. Strange.. I just realized I bought an engagement ring from a shop next to Burger King.... I would be concerned about the quality of a ring and diamond if they offer you less than half price. At least you feel you got a deal. Considering the huge variance of diamonds for cut, clarity and colour it's pretty hard to know what's a deal and what's not unless you're an expert and have specialized instruments to measure them. Try to make deep scratches on your window, (isn't expensive ) and see if the 'stone' is still there. You won't get a 46,000 baht ring for 21,000. Are you sure that it wasn't a deal. P.S. Could you understand the whole conversation, I guess your 'wife' was speaking, right? Sorry, but that's nothing than the truth, happens TOO often in the land of diamonds. Aeeh cheap rings. My wife and I vowed to not buy in Thailand due to Thai quality issues (thai and quality are oxymorons) and because big ticket items here are almost always at least double price from USA. We decided to buy online at Overstock. Taxes and Thai duties are outrageous but overstock includes them in the price and guarantees that will be all you pay. It worked out. We got her a 14K white gold .33 ct diamond for 15K baht late last year including all import duties. This way we know we have a quality strong ring with no Thai quality issues. So even with exhorbitant taxes and duties, the price is still much lower than here and we know we got quality. ] My ring I had from a previous marriage so wife bought me a yellow plated band from online Thai site for 300 baht. strong as ox and looks great

krakatoa
Wedding Rings have diamonds, do you mean a wedding band? New one on me "Wedding Rings have diamonds" Having bought several wedding rings (and none with diamonds) I am not sure exactly that you know <deleted> you are talking about. And I would suggest that you just give the chick a "brass curtain ring" because if it is gold she will just sell it off. There is absolutely no sentimenality in the persona of a Thai femail.
